How do we get the ideas that are in our heads across to others? Words.
Words and how they work have always fascinated me and been at the center of my professional life. As a newspaper editor and writer, I used them to provide readers the information they needed to make decisions.
But information was not enough. I found myself teaching and training people in every position I ever held. So, I pursued a master's degree in instructional design to discover how people learn and improve their performance. It seemed like a logical connection.
I found myself teaching at a technical college and revisiting how words communicate ideas. Back to the schoolbooks I went, this time returning to my old friends -- writing and editing. The result was a master's degree in professional writing.
In addition to my teaching, I am immersing myself in my freelance writing and editing career. I'm using my fascination for words and communication strategies to help make others' lives better.
